Custom software is hard to get right.
The challenge is rarely just the product itself. In large organizations, even straightforward initiatives can become enormous once you account for approvals, compliance, legacy systems, competing priorities, and the realities of moving work through an enterprise.
Why Tilted Windmill exists.
Custom software is hard to get right. The challenge is rarely just the product itself. In large organizations, even straightforward initiatives can become enormous once you account for approvals, compliance, legacy systems, competing priorities, and the realities of moving work through an enterprise.
Tilted Windmill exists to help make that work possible. We bring experienced product, design, engineering, and delivery leaders into complex environments and stay accountable from strategy through execution. We work alongside internal teams, navigate the constraints, and keep momentum when the path forward is unclear.
Our belief is simple: the world does not improve by accepting things as they are. It improves when people are willing to imagine how they should be, then do the difficult, practical work required to make that vision real.
That is the standard we hold ourselves to. Not just producing software, but helping ambitious ideas survive complexity, gain traction, and become real.
Three things we believe and act on.
We provide people, not products.
Every Tilted Windmill engagement starts with a team. Not a deck, not a methodology, not a delivery framework. The team is the product. Our job is to make sure the people we put on your work are the right people for that work.
We integrate into your team, not around it.
We do not run parallel projects. We do not disappear into a black box and reappear with a deliverable. We sit in your standups, learn your stakeholders, and contribute on your cadence. The work happens with you, not next to you.
We tell you when we are not the right fit.
Some initiatives need a partner like us. Some do not. We would rather lose a deal that should not have closed than land one we cannot deliver on. That filter is part of why our work tends to ship.
The people behind the people.
Three leaders set the direction at Tilted Windmill. Their backgrounds inform the kind of work we take on and the standards we hold to.
Shaun Greene
Shaun founded Tilted Windmill on the conviction that great custom software comes from great teams, and that the agency model, when it is done honestly, is one of the better ways to assemble those teams. He has spent his career on the kind of initiatives where the build is hard, the politics are real, and the only thing that actually solves either is the right group of people doing the work.
Jeremy Monken
Jeremy runs production at Tilted Windmill: the layer of the company that turns a team and a scope into a shipped product. His role sits at the intersection of delivery, process, and people management. He has spent his career making sure that what a team agrees to in a meeting is what actually ships at the end of the sprint.
Kevin Greene
Kevin leads the engineering side of Tilted Windmill: the technical standards, the build approach, and the senior-engineer perspective that gets brought into client conversations. He has spent his career inside the part of custom software where the difference between a senior engineer and a less experienced one is the difference between shipping in six months and shipping in eighteen.
The standard for who shows up on your initiative.
Everyone we provide to a client engagement clears the same internal bar. Three filters:
Senior-track experience.
Most engagements at Tilted Windmill are not the right place to put a junior person. We optimize for people who have seen the failure modes before and know how to avoid them.
Embedded fit.
We hire for people who can integrate into someone else's team, cadence, and tools — not just people who can do the technical work. Some technically strong people are not the right fit for embedded work. We screen for both.
Outcome accountability.
We hire people who measure their work by whether the initiative shipped and whether it worked, not by whether they delivered against a spec. That is a different category of person.
